Long Term Plan

Year 5 are excited to be undertaking an Arts project in partnership with Scarborough Museums Trust. On Monday 28th January we were fortunate to take part in a Writing workshop with the fantastic Author Ian Clayton. We use ‘A Sense of Place’ that meant at lot to us to create our own poems and narrative stories. Also during the day we had an opportunity to use pieces of art about Scarborough to help inspire our creative writing.

Year 5 visited Woodend Museum to learn more about WW1 and the Scarborough bombardment. We had the chance to wear some replica clothing and handle many artefacts that had been salvaged from the bombardment. Ending the day we wrote our own remembrance poems. Take a look at our photos.

This half term in Year 5, we are learning about WW1. We are reading War Horse by our author of the term Michael Morpurgo. Along with reading War Horse, we are looking at the impact of WW1 with in the Scarborough area through investigating about the Scarborough Bombardment. Have a look through our photos to find out what we are getting up to.

Autumn Term

This term we are going to be learning about “Our Place In the World” in which will be carrying out a study all around South America.Along side this we will be reading Michael Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom, which tells the tale of how a young boy named Michael mysteriously disappears the night before his twelfth birthday. The next morning, Michael finds himself washed up on a beach on a remote island with a bowl of water and some grilled fish next to him.
